Well....the time most of you have been counting down on my board is almost here. Graduation. For some, I think the closer it gets, the more nervous/apprehensive they feel about this new sense of freedom. And others can't wait to get out of here! :-)
This week's blog: What does graduation mean to you? How do you feel about graduation? What will you take away from ADM?
Blog due by 3:45 Friday 5/10. This will be our last blog post.

Tell me about your love for the movies. Include Youtube videos of some of your favorite clips/trailers from great movies!
20 points for the writing

Fiction Lead-Ins!
For your blog this week, I want you to write a quick paragraph for your short story we are starting this week. Think like what you would see on the inside cover of a book--a little teaser making people want to read your short story.
If you make me want to read your short story, you will receive all points for the blog. Good luck!

Fiction Writing
This week, we are going to focus on Fiction Writing. What makes good fiction writing? What makes a good short story/book stand out to you?
Write at least two paragraphs on these questions followed by a quick book review of a great book you've read lately. I'll post an example on here later today.

A day in your life....in pictures!
I'm sure you may have seen blogs do this, but I think it's interesting how you can say so much about you and your life...without saying anything at all.
This blog will be due on Thursday, March 14th at 1:00. (You have almost 2 weeks to work on it). I want you to show me what your life is like using only photos. You must use at least 8 photos in your blog post.
Ways to do this: You can take them with your phone, email them to yourself, and upload them to your blog. You can take them on a camera, upload them to your computer, and upload them to your blog.
If you don't have a way of doing this assignment, let me know.
The positive thing about this blog post: no writing involved! Best creative. Have fun. Show me...you!

Poetry Unit
This week is midterms for Creative Writing and we are almost ready to finish up our poetry unit. This week for your post, I want you to post your best poem so far and explain your thoughts/ideas/technique behind writing it.
I'm also going to get more strict with your blogging requirements. It needs to be a well developed piece of writing. Example: 2-3 short sentences is not a strong piece of writing. You will lose points for your blog if it isn't a strong piece of writing.
I'm also requiring that you post on 2 other people's blogs. Don't just say "good post." Respond to something they said, ask them questions, etc. Try to make sure everyone gets a response to their post--meaning one post doesn't need 14 replies.
Let's finish poetry on a strong note.

Dear 5 year old me....
This was my favorite blog post from my students last semester. The prompt was:
Imagine you had the ability to travel back in time to talk to your 5 year old self. What kinds of things do you think your 5 year old self could benefit from hearing? Would you tell yourself anything that would change the way things worked out?
Put this in letter format. Get Creative. I'll repost mine from last semester as an example! Have a great week.
PS: Since this week is a shorten week, I will give you until Sunday at 5 to post your blog.

Blog Post #2: Description of your childhood
Happy Monday everyone!
I read all of your blog entries from last week. Now that we are well into understanding how a blog works, I need to reiterate/set a few ground rules.
#1: To receive credit for a blog post, it needs to be a well-developed piece of writing. I.E. a sentence or two will NOT work! Spend some time thinking about what you want to discuss. Ask your audience questions! Question yourself and what you got out of an experience!
#2: Please be smart about what you post on here. I know it is YOUR blog, but it is still a school requirement. If I find anything to be offensive, I will ask you to take it down and you will get zero credit for your blog that week.
#3: Read other people's blogs. Not just your friends' blogs, but any blog you can get ahold of! You can get great ideas for blogs from others. Starting next week, I will require that you start commenting on your peers' blogs. So you might as well start now.
As for your blog post this week: we are starting poetry in class this week and are focusing on "Where I'm From" poems. I'd like you to post this week about something from your childhood. It could be a memory about a special event, person, memento (like your blanket), etc. Why is this the memory you wanted to share on your blog? What do you think this memory has done to "shape" who you are today?
Don't just start with "This week we have to blog about our childhood." Find a fun way to grab our attention about your post. Pictures are always great to add if you can! I always post an example one on my "We Speech Good" account. Look there for inspiration.
Good Luck. Have Fun.
